Mer-Fin Swim was created in January 2018 by 'Mermaid' Amy, a mother of two from Telford, Shropshire.
'Mermaid' Amy always had a passion for mermaids from a very young age, and consistently swam using the dolphin kick technique, in and out of a tail!
'Mermaid' Amy created her first mer-tail by hand in 2013 for a photoshoot in the beautiful, crystal clear waters of Cyprus. She quickly found people loved the idea and her creativity. She continued to take her tail overseas and to local pools, sparking curiosity in children and grown-ups.
From this and with a passion for swimming and teaching children, Mermaid Amy decided to bring mermaids to Shropshire by bringing Mer-Fin Swim to life, offering a wide variety of mermaid/mermen tails, with quality fins for ages 6 years and above, alongside small bespoke classes for children to learn to swim.
Experienced for over 11 years in mermaid swimming and qualified by Swim England (ASA) in level 1 and 2 swimming teaching, 'Mermaid' Amy brings a new and exciting aspect to swimming whilst making dreams come true!
In May 2023, Mer-Fin Swim became incorporated into Mer-Fin Swim Ltd.
Mer-Fin Swim has grown as a recommended brand and now offers a variety of swimming services, maintaining small personalised classes and offering 1:1 lessons for SEND children. Mer-Fin Swim now holds over 4,500 classes per year.

CARTER
Senior Swimming Instructor/Coach
I am a National level swimmer who has competed at Welsh nationals and the west midlands regionals competitions in individual events and relay teams specialising in breaststroke.
I currently swim for Oswestry Otters and have competed with the Oswestry team in the national arena league in the 200IM, 100m breaststroke, as well as the medley and freestyle relays.
I have swam for many clubs within Shropshire, Whitchurch, Ellesmere Collage Titans, SASC (Shrewsbury Amateur Swimming Club), and currently Oswestry Otters. I have been swimming competitively for over a decade now and since have become a level 2 swim teacher and a coaching assistant where I have gained experience developing competitive swimmers within club-based sessions, and development skill camps as well as developing swimmers who have just begun their swim journey.

STACEY
Swimming Instructor
I’m a regional level swimmer who has competed at national inter-county and West Midlands competitions for both individual and relay events. I specialise in backstroke and freestyle, in particular, the 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle.
I currently swim for SASC (Shrewsbury Amateur Swimming Club) and have been swimming there for over 10 years. Recently, the club has taken part in the National Arena League tournament where I competed in the 100m backstroke, 200 IM and the relay teams.
Since becoming a Level 2 Swim Teacher and a Coaching Assistant, I have gained experience in many different environments including coaching for different clubs around Shropshire. I’ve been able to use these skills at Mer-fin to enhance swimmer’s journeys and develop their skills.
I have been selected every year for the national inter-county team to race for the 100m backstroke as well as relay events; this is a huge opportunity as it allows me to meet new people and learn new skills. Furthermore, next season, I’m looking to expand my skills and complete my level 2 Coaching which I can use to further teach the kids and adults at Mer-fin swim school.
Starting the new swimming season, I’m looking forward to work closely with Carter to progress our swimmers in Mer-Fin Swims development squad at Prestfelde school, Shrewsbury.
