Distance awards
Only 1 distance award should be awarded at any one time.
Please follow the table below to guide you with our distance and stage structure

In lane swimming again, only 1 distance award should be awarded at any one time.
Anything 25m and above MUST be to Swim England standards.
The maximum distance a swimmer can achieve in a 30 minute lesson 200m (during specific distance weeks this increases to 400m).
All awards above 400m must be held in a one hour or longer lesson (save for distance weeks).
Please note the maximum distance award we have is 1mile (1609m) therefore 1 mile should not be award to any swimmer who has not achieved stage 7 or above.
Stage awards
When marking or syncing lessons each day, staff must ensure that no more than three stage criteria are moved up per lesson. Progress should only be recorded when a swimmer has clearly demonstrated the criteria to a recognisable standard.
If a swimmer has attempted a skill but has not achieved it to a reasonable quality, no progression should be marked for that criteria during that lesson. This ensures accurate and fair tracking of each swimmer’s development.
You must work on one stage at at time. Do not move on to the next stage marking until the previous stage has been fully completed.
If you are missing stages from your class in your Ipad please let Amy know ASAP.
If you feel a swimmer is unsuitable for any reason in a class that you are teaching please inform Amy or the Co-ordinator on site at the earliest opportunity.
New swimmers to our lessons (you will be made aware by the Co-ordinator at Prestfelde, we require an assessment to be carried out during their first lesson to ensure they are in the correct class and so that we start working on the most appropriate stage for their ability.
